PROFESSIONAL MANHATTAN ACTING CLASSES ARRIVE IN LITCHFIELD
Professional Adult and Teen Acting Classes Offered; Sandford Meisner Technique
Intensive hands on instruction, small class size, sign up now for Jan/Feb start
The Adult 2 year class covers what professional actors study in the leading Acting schools in Manhattan, and is the ONLY class of its kind in Litchfield County. The Teen class serves as an introduction to this naturalistic Acting style and may be developed into the full class pending on interest.
Ms. Hunter looks forward to establishing a true actors home in Litchfield County, saving the trip into Manhattan for acting auditions and work, and eliminating the need to travel to Manhattan for in depth training or scene studies in acting by making training available in Litchfield. The teacher, Rodnie Hunter, is an Actress and Filmmaker who studied directly with Sanford Meisner and attended The Neighborhood Playhouse, and has relocated from Manhattan to Litchfield County and will start to teach the Acting Class through the Litchfield Parks and Recreation Department.
The Acting class is being taught as a pure form of the Meisner Technique, named after Sandford Meisner who was one of three most influential acting teachers of the last century in America and founded The Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in NYC. Oscar winning alumni include Jon Voight, Joanne Woodward, Diane Keaton, Robert Duvall, Sydney Pollack, David Mamet, Dylan McDermott, Lee Grant, Tony Randall, Eli Wallach, Chris Noth, Gregory Peck, Steve McQueen and others. The Meisner Technique is different from `Method' acting, but comes from the same school of revolutionary thought, to give a natural performance based on real emotion, where “Acting is behaving truthfully under given imaginary circumstances.” Ms. Hunter is also a Director of Film and Theatre, and holds a Masters Degree in Film Direction from Columbia University, where she studied under Directors Sidney Lumet and Frank Perry.

Quotes:
“Take it from a Director: If you get an actor that Sandy Meisner has trained, you've been blessed”---Elia Kazan, Director of On The Waterfront and A Streetcar Named Desire.
“He has been the most principled teacher of acting in this country for decades now, and every time I am reading actors I can pretty well tell which ones have studied with Meisner. It is because they are honest and simple and don't lay on complications that aren't necessary.”
